About

A first edition, proposed to the alliance

The 1st Jiangsu–Hong Kong–Macao Symposium on Intelligent Service Robotics and Autonomous Systems is an activity of the Jiangsu–Hong Kong–Macao University Alliance, hosted by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University from December 14 – 24, 2026.

Aims and objectives

What the initiative is for

Three objectives, stated in the proposal. Each one is something a single department cannot do on its own.

  1. 01

    Advance cross-border innovation

Establish a premier collaborative platform uniting robotics engineering and computing departments across Jiangsu, Hong Kong, and Macao to share breakthroughs in tactile service robots and Edge AI frameworks.

  2. 02

    Foster practical talent cultivation

Give students from diverse academic fields hands-on, low-barrier hardware assembly and visual block-based programming skills, flattening the technical learning curve.

  3. 03

    Strengthen institutional ties

Facilitate student mobility and joint cross-border research proposals, leveraging the regional manufacturing power of Jiangsu together with the technological and service strengths of Hong Kong and Macao.

  • University of Macau

  • Macao University of Science and Technology

Liaoning Technical University joins as a strategic regional academic partner rather than as a Jiangsu member institution.

Venue and format

On one campus, streamed to the rest

The event runs on the campus of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in Hung Hom, Kowloon, Hong Kong SAR. Holding the workshop and the symposium in the same place is what allows the exhibition to show working hardware: the arms assembled in December do not have to travel.

Hybrid virtual streaming carries the symposium sessions to member labs that cannot send a delegation. The streamed component covers the academic tracks and the exhibition floor; the hands-on workshop is on campus by necessity.

150–200 participants are expected across the eleven days — undergraduate and postgraduate student teams, faculty researchers, and cross-border tech innovators.
